Real Estate Financing...

head_left_image

It's Time To Go To Work.

I would love to be in a better mood.  But, come on, the Steelers lost and I feel that every rational thought I had about them being one of the best teams in the National Football League was nothing more than a biased observation from a loyal fan.  Was it?  I'm not so sure.

Everyday that I watch television or drive down the road, I'm stricken with the affliction that we all have jobs to do.  That's how all this works.  I don't like having a job.  I never will.  Yet, I'm in total love with having a passion.  When I awake tomorrow, it will be staring right into this ugly mug.

Folks, I do Mortgages for a living.  That's what I do.  I help finance those who want to buy a home, refinance a home, buy a commercial property and even refinance one.  That's what I do.  How can one possibly be passionate about that?  I mean, it seems so rudimentry.  It seems so blasi.  It seems so freaking superficial.  When I graduated Clarion College, my advisor asked what I would do with my degree in philosophy.  I never did retort until now, but I'd probably sit high on a hill and wax intellectual with Plato on my own mind.  That is what I would do.  But, that's not what I do for a living.

Things aren't easy in the Mortgage Industry right now, I think you know that.  Things aren't easy in the World we live in, you probably know that as well.  In either case, they will never be....easy.   And if by chance you come across 'easy'...live with it and die by it.

Passion cures all though.  Always has, always will.  Passion for what you do, why you do it, and when you do it becomes the very reason we are wasting our time in this place.  This isn't wasting time, this is the search for passion.  I found it a few moments ago.

Each day of our life (talking to me now:-) we awake and find that our role is quite simple.  We are here in some form of reality. If you want the Hard-Core truth about Real-Estate & Life, I'll give you this one thing.  It Has To Be Passionate!

I sit by the window and collect cool breezes as they make their way into my bones.  I sit and wonder if my next step is the proper one.  I sit when I should be standing.

I love the Industry I am in, always will.  I have learned more about good and bad by just being here than any book that may help fill my library.   I've met Scoundrels and I've met Saints, but I'm wondering what song could appropriately transition into an ending to this long-winded prose.

I'm a passionate guy and tomorrow when I awake, I will be alone.  Yet, I'll be passionate.  And all the time I will know that it is time to go to work...

Jason, now that the market has slowed down, those of us who intend to survive without changing jobs will have to maintain (or rediscover) our passion...

No doubt it keeps me moving forward....even on rough days. I just can see myself EVER doing anything else.

BTW, I will decide to like you even though you are a Steelers fan. Yes, a fan of the team which STOLE the superbowl from my Seahawks!!!!!!!!!!  (Whom I'm almost equally passionate about) :-0

Jason, for a guy that's specific

I love the Industry I am in, always will.  That's a pretty general statement.  Sometimes I wonder whether you're telling yourself you have the passion or the passion is really there.

I hope you enjoy your visit to the Triangle - Don't forget to stop by Southern Season and a couple of my favorite restaurants.

Hey Jas....need to keep it strong and passionate.  Can't relinquish that passion even if everyone else is.

Jason.....   what's passion? lol  Seriously, that is what has kept me on this business. In regards to your first song, I think they only had 6 more words than "in your eyes"... lol  And where do you think they went to as they left holding hands?

In regards to Tracy's comment... where are you heading to?

Jason Dahling, I have my terrible towel right here, but only used it to wipe my tears today.  I didn't know you went to Clarion, I was born and raised in Pittsburgh.  Hmm, no wonder you're such a thinker, it's in your blood.  Must be all that fresh air yoins been breathing!  ;-)  Now go red up your room.

Jason - Passion will always thrive, lust will linger and die. Passion is the fuel that runs your soul. Those that run on lust fail to finish. False goals wither and disappear. To identify passion, one only need look back and see what has been there since the beginning. It is deeper than an occupation. It is the reason for an occupation. The gentle voices that call an attempt to lead you astray are merely sirens. Their song will draw you near, yet never close enough to grasp. Deaf, dumb or blind........passion will remain.

Everyday is yet another opportunity to reach out and make a difference. I applaud your effort.

Jason,

No matter what the decision is whether to stay in it or move onto something else...there should not be any guilty feelings..I agree...not many people want to work..at least not a 9-5 job. I'm able to work my own hours which is good and bad...sometimes I go 2 weeks without a real day off... but I have the instinct to work when I need to. It's called survival. Personally if I could make a living in the netertainmant industry I would probably still be there or if I could make a living just writing my thoughts maybe that would be my calling.

Jason, Sorry about the Steelers.. but the Dolphins won.. they finally got it done... Now if we can just get New England to lose.
Posted by My Favorite Mortgage.net - Matthew J Blum about 1 year ago

Jason,,if you are helping someone get what they need to get done, then you are providing a service. If you help them actually realize thier dream, I think you can share thier passion, and it can become yours. So a great line is to concentrate on assisting others realize thier dreams. To acknowlege that we have the power to positiviely change lives. That becomes a personal passion.

Years ago when I had several auto shops, I too had to find the passion. Where is passion in auto reapir you say?? That was my question.  SO I found it in our waiting rooms, by making them nicer than expected, by washing   cars before giving them back, by taking people home with a smile, and by going out of my way to make our business known for exceeding expectations.

Celebrate the good you can do for others, and quit waking up alone. Get a cat!!!

Jason, Sorry about the Steelers, but the field wasn't the best.  But look at what happened yesterday, even the Dolphins won finally.  Now, I was bummed that the Giants lost to the Redskins.  Of course Matt is in dream land about the Dolphins beating New England.

I do not have a job as well.  I would not like having a job - how mundane and boring.  But I do have a passion for what I do and I'm thankfully able to reignite and reinvigorate that passion to keep the flame glowing.  It's hard right now, but I'm just pouring my energies into different areas.

You have a passion and it's quite obvious to all that read your blog.  There is no way to hide that.  And I would like to think that your passion also helps to reinvigorate others that may have lost their way.

Hi Jason,

You have passion written all over you! My passion is people, plain and simple. Its that little old lady that needs an ear to burn or that young couple that has no hope and then they talk to you. I don't go to work everyday, I get to go out and meet people! How cool is that....if I'm lucky someday these people will need me in business so I will countinue to spread my seeds and watch them grow! Your tags crack me up! ;)

Jason, my brother is the only true philosopher and pure intellectual I know.  He worked only long enough to allow him to study full time.  He does research on the classics for no other reason than to get to the truth....for himself.  It is possible to follow your innate passions but there are always some compromises.  Just don't make too many.  That's what I fear the most!

Jason,

Just like you forget sometimes that you have a job, the Steelers seemed to forget that they don't ALLOW people to run the ball.  I wonder if any of them were driving to work today and realized that.  It was quite surprising to not see their passion (ok, we saw it at the END!).  It's a great analogy.  You can't have passion at the END and get the results you need.  It's gotta be there the whole game.

But the Penguins are on a streak again.... sort of!

Jason - I would attempt to feel sorry for your team if not for the following reasons.

1) The Steelers beat the Ravens (yes, the team I try to root for)

2) The Raven lost to the Patriots because of a stupid error by the Defensive Coach (not your fault)

3) The Ravens lost to the Dolphins yesterday - no sympathy left for anyone!

Glad to see that you enjoy your job!

Jason, you got passion spilling out of your pores with every word you put to virtual paper... You are even passionate about not being passionate, and that's a rare gift, even for a philosopher. Get a can, or a puppy, and it'll give you a reason to stand when you should be sitting:-)
PS: Last night one of my two dogs was jumping on the walls of my bedroom for a solid hour trying to squash his own shadow. The shadow was wagging its tail, and Jack was attacking it. He was putting everything he had in that bizarre effort, and we laughed harder than I remember laughing in years... It was a great lesson in passion, from a canine yearling :-)

I have been lucky to have a lot of interaction with very financially successful people.  They always tell me the same thing.  They zigged while the world was zagging, and they have fun with what they do.  Most have said they would do it for free... but they don't, and I don't think they really would.

Hey Jason -  Very well thought out, and very well written.  I agree, it is important to love what you do, and to be passionate about it.  Good luck to you.  I see we are next to each other on the Pennsylvania list.

I'm horribly jealous of your passion right now, as I am running a little bit low at this time.   I think that is ok, as passion is known to ebb & flow, the constant being that it remains.  Maybe I should just stick around your posts and bask in the heat, if that's all right with you.  I am REALLY feeling the Rundgren right now!

Sardi, As another loyal Steeler fan I think you are right.  They are not the team I thought they were earlier this season.  They peaked in October!  Right now I don't even think we will win our division! :-(  It seems as though everyone on the team is looking for someone else to make a big play.  Nobody wants to step up.  Oh and our defense!  Yuck!  Nobody used to be able to run on us and now Fred Taylor runs20 yards untouched with the game on the line.

All we need is one win and a bit of help and we can secure a wild card.  Maybe not winning our division will galvanize the men of steel and we can go on another Wildcard run through the playoffs.  Could happen!

Jason, I am one of the fortunate ones that ruly don't feel like I have a job at all. I just wake up every day and do what I do. It certainly helps that I rarely have to leave my house. Just talk on the phone and help people solve their problems. It doesn't get any better than that. Or does it?  One good thing about life is just when we think it can't get any better it does.

Jason,  The beauty of this business is our ability to channel our passion in so many different directions. You can use your artistic and creative talents to develop marketing to create more business.  Other times you can focus the analytical ability on solving problems for specific clients or streamlining systems.  Whenever passion is lost just realign your sites for a short term detour in whatever direction reignites the fire.

What a coininkie dink...love the tag.  I have been around much...just not the same  around here.

THe Steelers have had some disappointing losses...because it seems they don't have the same passion.  The execution is not perfect.  They haven't been consistent in their plans.  The front line is not holding up.  The secondary is letting this slip past them.

Wait that's the Steelers I am talking about...started to sound like real estate.  How similar???

Keep the passion...keep doing what your doing, don't let the easy ones pass you by...it's all in the consistent execution of your plans...

Jason,

Shoulda known, philosophy major. Passion is sometimes the only thing we have, the only thing we need or the only thing we lack in life. It can be instilled in us, ignited within us or stolen from us. It's the most beautiful and powerful when it defines us.

I hope your passion defines you tomorrow and every day after that, my friend.

I'm a Giants fan so I could care less about the Dolphins...they need more help then they know. business is a day by day learning process and thats what I enjoy...different days and new surprises even if they are not great they still are fresh:)

Jason, I'm glad to be working with you and I wouldn't be able to say that if you didn't have passion. This does take a lot of passion, that's why there is so much turn over in our industry, it takes passion to be here when times are tough. People that are only around for the good times and that lack the passion are long gone. Thank you for having the passion. You would be missed if you were gone.

Passion is key.  Sometimes you have to go look for it and rekindle it during the rough patches!!  LOVE the song.  Brings me back to my college days!

Brian - Perhaps a little bit of both.

Colleen - Ugh, what a lousy game that was.  I'd have to watch it again.  Merry Christmas, even though you are a Seattle fan:-)

Tracy - The passion is there, though I'm very introspective about things.  I'm in Raleigh as I type.

Jeff - I'm in Raleigh, NC my friend.

Tracey - LOL.  Well, they won last night though Parker's loss may be brutal.

John - Yours are some of the wisest words here, thank you.

Maggie - It sure beats being a Dolphin's fan:-)

Neal - Making a living writing your thoughts would be awesome.  I do love Real Estate though.

Matthew - I am hoping they 'shock the world' this Sunday!

Mike - I do have a cat, but young Baxter likes to sleep on his own terms.

Marc - What we do is a lot of things, mundane and boring isn't it.  Passion is crucial in anything you do.

Suzanne - I like to have fun with tags every now and again:-)

Diane - I would hope to keep the compromises within moderation.

Kelly - That probably explains a few things:-)

Jayne - It's too bad I'm not more into Hockey.  Though, watching it live is fantastic.

Matthew - Point taken, the Ravens have been a disappointment this year.

Sandra - Did your Google Alerts go off:-)

Inna - Your comments crack me up:-))

Donald - Yes we are my friend, see you at the top!

Elaine - If it helps you out, I'm honored.

Jennifer - You, out of everyone, have little to be jealous about.

Rey - I think we will wrap up the division, though Parker's loss could be crippling.

Danny - Well put, that's who will be around after it is said and done in my opinion.....thankfully.

Bryant - That surmises a part of what we do....solve problems.

Dan - With Sandra around, I'm sure the both of you help keep the Passion for what you do in Real Estate up between the both of you.

Bob - I noticed that man, I'm going to check out that link.

Andrew - You strike me as a philosophy guy as well.

Neal - We learn something new each day, that's for sure.

Bruce - Through hell or high water, don't think I'm going anywhere.

Ginger - Good to see you back around!
