Born sullen & weary, the young child rested within his mother's arms ... waiting for the grace that seemed inevitable.
If I was musically talented Mike Sardi, you'd be in trouble:-)
Somehow, someway, I found out at an early age that life is not only not easy ... but an experiment in the making. We are all on a similiar level, read behind and beyond the words if you think I'm incorrect. Nobody knows what really happens next, if anything. Heck, the whole deal is a leap of faith. That of, believing in God, ourselves, our existence, our importance, etc.
One thing did change my mind about everything though. When I was a boy, younger than I am now, I looked at my Father as if he was something greater than human. Truth is, he isn't. I love him all the more because of that. While we all may be sons and daughters of God, I'm the son of Mike Sardi. That, I know for a fact. The mailman denied any involvement:-)
Under different circumstances, my Dad would be my best friend. Yet, he looks out for me, worries for me, wants to take care of me until the day he looks death in the eye. My Dad isn't my best friend, he just happens to be someone I can't put a loosely utilized label upon. I love him to death ... and beyond. He's someone I look up too, even though I'm taller. He's someone I can talk to about anything, even though my lips are sealed at times. He cares about me, more than I care to report.
Once upon a time I watched my Father (with 4 other gentlemen) play the Pittsburgh Steelers in a charity basketball game. God, I love watching him play basketball. He's Larry Bird on a 5'10" frame, Pistol Pete ... willing to pass the ball. There's something I love even more than that though, I love you Mike Sardi. I really do love you. When you hit a last second winning shot, they turned back the clock to allow the 'Real Athletes' the opportunity to win. I saw your face after that shot, my face turned a similiar shade. Life's like that, not fair ... but you roll with what you got and keep on going.
A tear wept out of my eye the very first time I saw him cry. A smile smirked upon my face when I saw him succeed time and again. When he was down, I was out. I just didn't know it yet, and don't really show it much ... to this day.
Come to think about it, I take everything back. You are my best friend Mike Sardi. I'm damn sorry I don't show it more. My bad, Dad. Happy Father's Day, from a son who hasn't shown that I appreciate it or you enough.
Jason
P.S. - And Elaine Sardi, you happen to me my hero on so many levels. Thank you for being you! I love you!

Jason, that was great tribute. He would be so pleased to read this because it is truth based. Hey, Isn't that Mike's boy over there? They call him Jason. Boy, the fruit doesn't fall from the tree, does it? Yep, He's like his Dad in so many ways. Happy Son's Day Jason. Make him proud, as I am sure you do.
Nice Tribute.
Jason: Okay, after yours, I can't read anymore of these Father's Day tributes--all teary-eyed here!! What a beautiful story and I know your father couldn't be more proud of you!
Jason, nice words for your father, Being a big basketball fan and player myself I know the thrill of the winning shot. Swoosh! You will continue to appreciate him more and more each year.
William - In many ways, I do. In other ways, I don't.
Joel & Teresa - Thank you.
Debe - As typical, it didn't come out how I had it in my head ... but tears were in my eyes at times when I was writing.
Gary - The guy is an amazing player. I knew I should of stuck with wrestling because that was my forte, one of my gifts. I used to be able to shoot rather well, now ... not so much.
Jason... a very warm and heartfelt tribute to your dad. I can relate to some of the things that you mentioned. Sounds like some good memories. Thanks for sharing....
Excellent job Jason... specktabulous as it were. Your dad sounds like a good man and I'm sure he's as proud of you as any father could be. Nice work.
Wow sweetie... I think you're Dad's pretty terrific too. I know how much love you have for both of them, which makes this even more moving to read. You're very blessed and I'm so glad you know it.
Hi Mike :))
Happy Father's Day! I'm sending you a big hug and a 'thank you'!
Love Jennifer
Well said Jason..well said.
Nice Musical selection Jason.... I'm sure your writing also touched the old man even if only to provoke a silent smirk.
Jason....Beautiful. I bet your parents laugh and cry when reading this. They must be so proud of you.
Jason, awesome ThemThem to a fine man named Mike, better known as Dad! I LROL on the mailman's denial. Good one.

Jason - this is a great look deep into the psyche that is Jason Sardi. Your dad is a very special man, I'm sure, but he has also raised a very special son.
Enjoy your time with him. Enjoy your time with your mom. The days when celebrating these types of holidays without them is very hard. May you have them both for many, many, many years.
Jason,
You are just to sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Happy Fathers Day! Even if you're not a father.
Jason, Jason, Jason: This made me think of my Father growing up.. My Father was and is not into any sports but he always made sure he never missed one of baseball or basketball games growing up.
Jason, You have some great memories of your Dad. Great post.
Jason, this was really wonderful. You have such a way with words. Your dad sounds like a great man and I am very sure that he is proud of the man that he had the pleasure to watch grow up. Good job. I'm sure this made both your parents very happy. Can you ask them how long I have to wait before my kids really show that they appreciate me? Lol!
What a nice way to honor your dad. He must be something else.
Jason,
Simply beautiful!! Your Dad sounds like a very wonderful man and I'm glad the two of you were put together here on this earth.
Jo
Very nice. I learned as I got older that Dad was my best friend. I just wished I could have spent more time with him.
You know... this might be the best post you have written. I bet there are a lot of people, that just like me, personally identified.
That was not a good job, it was a GREAT job.
Jason,
Awesome is an understatement! What a wonderful tribute.
oh that was an honest tribute to your father and i bet he is proud to read this....happy fathers day to everyone tomorrow!
I didn't have the good fortune of having a good father. Mine left when I was a young boy. I did have an amazing mother who I always sent father's day cards to. I became a father at 23 and since have had four amazing children who are 21 to 32 yrs old. It was real important to be that father that I never had. My kids have been a blessing to my wife and I and God has been our foundaion and success.
Great tribute to your dad Jason...thanks for sharing!
Jason,
Great tribute to a great father...you know how I know he's a great father? I can read 'between the lines'...my father and I used to argue like heck about everything, but never did we doubt each other's love or respect...Italian dads are like that...and so are Italian sons...Ask your buddy Andrew!!! Happy Father's Day! Thanks, Fran
Hi Jason,
This is a really cool post, I'm sure your dad is very proud! :)
My complements to Mike!
Enough said, he and I know what I mean.
Bill
Jason,
As I am reading this, tears are in my eyes runing down my cheeks and onto the keyboard. I would lke to meet that man you are describing and tell him how lucky he is to have a son like you. Those words would make any dad cry. Other than that shot against the Steelers, are you sure you are writing about me?
Thank you Jason for always making your mother and me proud. We must have done something right in raising you because you are a wonderful, thoughtful, sensitive, honest and caring young man.
You made my day, week, month, year and lifetime with those words and with you just being you.
We love you very much and could not be any more proud of you!
Dad and Mom
Hi Jennifer. Thanks for the note and E-card. You are so thoughtful and vey lucky to have met Jason and visa versa.
Jason-I just find you to be such an amazing person and your parents did a heck of a job with ya! I too sometimes think I shortchanged my folks and not letting them know enough how important they are to me.
Jason, Wow! Your post was fantastic but this letter from your Dad put me away. Lovely. You are so lucky and blessed and I am so happy for you. Great family. You should be proud of them and yourself. Thanks for making my morning. At least I'm crying before I put my mascara on!! I forgot to sign in so I just left my name at the top. Have a great day.
Jason, Great post. Yeah, I have to agree, the letter from your Dad really hit the spot. You're a lucky guy. Have a Great Day.
I'm a little late to the game with my comment. I was enjoying Father's Day. Good for you Jason. Now the next step in the process is to become one yourself. Don't rush in to anything, but I can tell you enjoying your kids is a huge upper!
Sardi...
Somewhere inside you there's a book just waiting for you to sit down and write it :)
On another note...It is a leap of faith...But...The way I see it...We have everything to gain and nothing to lose :)
On yet another note...Happy Belated Father's Day to Mike Sardi. You done him proud I'm sure :)
TLW...ROAR!
Awesome tribute dude.....that's too cool. I love a great father son relationship. My dad is the "rockiest" of the rockin dads.....this is just a great reminder.....thanks dude....I don't say it enough as you do .
Jason- Wow, this is a very tear jerking tribute to your dad and then I read your dad's comments and cried. What a blessed family you are. Treasure every moment.
